Until recently, up to 50% of petrol stations’ margin was generated by non-fuel categories, such as food and drinks.
During the pandemic, maintaining continuity in terms of fuel sales and staffing became a priority for petrol station chains. Some stations, which had already been using special windows during night shifts for safety reasons, have currently transitioned the entire sales process to this model.
At the same time, some chains very dynamically developed a completely non-contact form of payment for fuels with the use of dedicated applications.
